The 29th Match of VIVO IPL Season 12, KKR vs CSK was played on Super Sunday 14th April in Eden Gardens, Kolkata. CSK won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Chris Lynn gave a good start to the team even after losing the wicket of Sunil Narine early where he scored 49 runs in the powerplay along with Nitish Rana but Imran Tahir gave the break through and picked 2 back back wickets of Nitish Rana on 21 runs of 18 balls and Uthappa on a duck. Wickets continuously falling at one end whereas on the other end Chris Lynn batted like a one man army and completed his back to back fifties in the season and helped the team to set a total of 161-8 in 20 overs with his 82 runs of 51 balls with 7 fours and 6 sixes.
Russell tried to muscle the ball out of Park but Tahir sent him back to pavilion on 10 runs of 4 balls and thus Tahir was the most successful bowler and changed the momentum by departing 4 important wickets conceding 27 runs of his 4 overs.
The start for CSK was not so good as they lost the opening batsman in the powerplay and able to score 44 runs where du Plessis scored 24 runs (5 fours) of 16 balls. Suresh Raina batted well and stacked at one end but at the other end Rayudu disappointed and departed on 5 runs of 11 balls. Kedar Jadav showed some of his batting skill and got out by Piyush Chawla after scoring 20 runs (3 fours , a six) 12 balls. Sunil Narine picked the wicket of inform batsman of the team MS Dhoni on 16 runs (1 six) 13 balls. Suresh Raina completed his first fifty of the season and scored unbeaten 58 runs of 42 balls with 7 fours and a six. At end Ravindra Jadeja played some chiky shots and helped the team won the match by 5 wickets with his 31 runs (5 fours) of 17 balls as they scored 162-5 in 19.4 overs. The bowlers of KKR tried well but couldn't win the match for the team.
