2017 ICC Women's World Cup final
The year 2017, the historic ground of Lord's and a very exciting match between England and Indian women's teams in the final of the World Cup, to be honest, it was not an ordinary match. In this match, the Indian cricket team landed on the field, as soldiers who go to war leave home. This was a match in which Indian women gave up their lives and at one time it seemed as if Mithali's army would create history, but luck was more acceptable. In the end, what happened was not expected by any Indian fan as the Indian team lost the final by just 9 runs and this team's dream of winning the World Cup remained a dream.
In this final match, England's Captain Heather Knight won the toss and decided to bat first and gave the Indian team a target of 229 runs to win the World Cup, but Team India could score only 219 runs in response. England got off to a slow start in this match but their innings gained some momentum thanks to an important 83-run partnership between Sarah Taylor and Natalie Sewer. After this, veteran Indian bowler Jhulan Goswami came under the spell and he sent three English batsmen back to the pavilion one after the other.

Despite Jhulan's excellent bowling, the Indian team failed to capitalize on this tremendous opportunity and England managed to score a challenging score in the last moments of the innings thanks to the sensible batting of Catherine Brunt and Jenny Gunn. In England's innings, Sarah Taylor's 45 runs, Natalie Sewer's half-century and Katherine Brunt's 34 runs contributed.
Chasing the target, the Indian team did not start very well and the team lost their 2 important wickets soon. After this poor start, India needed a partnership, which was also met as Poonam Raut (86) and Harmanpreet Kaur (51) added 95 runs for the third wicket. But as India lost the wickets of Harmanpreet Kaur and Poonam Raut, the Indian innings continued to falter.
At one time India's score was 191 runs for three wickets and they needed only 38 runs to win the match, but English bowler Shrubsole kept the entire dice of the match reversed. Not only did Shrabsole take the wicket of Veda Krishnamurthy (35), India's last hope, with his career-best performance, he took the wickets of 6 Indian batsmen for 46 runs and snatched the victory in India's hands.

This was not the first time that the Indian women's team lost in the final of the World Cup. In the year 2005, Team India suffered a tough defeat against Australia, but the team had forgotten that defeat. While the defeat of England was like sprinkling salt on the wounds as the last 7 overs of this match were left out, the Indian team was completely heavy on England, but they say that Kisa did not get anything to date. Perhaps the time had not come for Team India, but every Indian was proud of the performance of Team India on that day, proud even today and always will be.
