Virender Sehwag smashed most fours in a calendar year

Virender Sehwag, the former explosive opener of the Indian team, holds the record for most fours in a calendar year in international cricket. However, his record is only for India, because apart from him, many batsmen have hit 300 or more fours in a year for their countries. Yes, Virender Sehwag has scored more than 300 fours in a calendar year playing in all three formats of cricket.

In 2008, right-handed batsman Virender Sehwag hit a total of 302 boundaries, including ODIs, Tests and T20 cricket. This is still a record for the Indian team. Even after 12 years, no Indian batsman has reached this record. Great batsman Sachin Tendulkar himself could never hit 300 boundaries in a calendar year in his life. Even Veeru played only one T20 match that year, in which he could not hit a single four.

Virender Sehwag played a total of 18 ODIs in 2008. He hit 121 fours in these matches, while in 27 innings of Test matches, he hit 181 fours that year. In this way, he made a record of making 302 fours in a calendar year. That year he scored a double century and a triple century in Test cricket with three centuries, while in ODI cricket he was able to score a century that year.

Let me tell you that Virender Sehwag is also the only player in the world who has been out in Test cricket between 90 to 99, 190 to 199, and 290 to 299. Not only this, but he was also the first player to score the first triple century in Test cricket for India. Today, he is also the only batsman to score the most triple Test centuries for India with two triple centuries. Apart from him, only Karun Nair has scored a triple century in Test cricket.
