KL Rahul and Chris Gayle gave a huge start to the team as they scored 50 runs in 6 overs and Chris Gayle played his natural game and scored 1st fifty in the season along with KL Rahul who scored back to back fifties in the season and finally Gayle got out on 63 (3 fours, 7 sixes) runs of 36 balls by Behrendorff and the partnership was break after scoring 116 runs in 12.5 overs. With Gayle KXIP lost 3 more quick wickets through the inning slowed down and MI came into the match but at end KL Rahul showed the game which could make his for the World Cup and scored his first century in Vivo IPL of 64 balls with 6 fours and 6 sixes, which helped the team to set a huge total of 197-4 in 20 over.
The bowlers bowled brilliantly in the middle overs but conceding 54 runs in last 3 overs, where Behrendorff and Bumrah picked one wicket each and H Pandya got 2 wickets.

Quinton de Kock start the chase with his new opening partner Siddhesh Lad who debuted in the match with a six in the very first ball of his IPL career and looked in good touch but was departed by Shami after scoring 15 runs (1 four, 1 six) of 13 balls. Suryakumar Yadav came in to but and scored some good runs but was sent back to pavillion by Sam Curran on 22 runs (4 fours) of 15 balls. After Yadav de Kock too got out on 24 runs (2 fours) of 23 balls. Pollard and Hardik Pandya were on the crease after the wicket of Ishan Kisan, the target looked quite difficult to achieve as they needed 104 runs in 8 overs. both of the played some good strokes but H Pandya was departed by Shami on 19 runs (2 fours )of 13 balls. Shami took the wicket of both the Pandya in the same over. But Pollard at one end took the match away from KXIP single handedly and scored another half century in the season and helped the team win the match by 3 wickets with his 83 runs (3 fours and 10 sixes) and they they scored 198 runs in 20 overs but Pollard got out in the last over of the match by Ankit Rajput.
