Marnus Labuschagne became the first concession substitute in Test Cricket on Sunday 18th August 2019 after Steve Smith was ruled out from the remainder of the 2nd Ashes Test match in Lord's. On day 4 of the 2nd Test, Steve Smith was injured by a blow on his neck from a bouncer bowled by Jofra Archer on Saturday. And Labuschagne played a crucial inning for Australia to save the 2nd Test match in Lords.

Ben Stokes batting in the second inning just unbelievable as he scored 135 runs and a partnership of 75 runs for the 10th wicket out of which he scored 74 runs after a huge batting collapse in the first inning as England were bowled out at a score of 67 runs. The inning helped to chase the highest score for England and it was the 4th one-wicket win for England.
Though the series ends with a draw and shares 60 points each of World Test Championship and Steve Smith was the player of the series for Australia and Ben Stokes became the player of the match in the series but Australia successfully managed to retained the Ashes.
