BCCI New Selectors: Sunil Joshi and Harvinder Singh

BCCI New Selectors of Team India

Sunil Joshi BCCI New Chief Selector

On Wednesday, March 4, BCCI appointed Sunil Joshi and Harvinder Singh as the selectors to take over the positions vacated by MSK Prasad and Gagan Khoda in the All-India men's senior selection panel. The names were recommended by the Cricket Advisory Committee, which included former India cricketers - RP Singh, Sulakshana Naik, and Madan Lal. The committee further recommended the name of Sunil Joshi as the chief selector, to take over from Prasad.

Intro of the Duo

Joshi, who will now be the most experienced player in the selection panel, has featured in 15 Tests and 69 ODIs. The former left-arm spinner's domestic career stretched from 1992 to 2010 - a span in which he took 615 first-class wickets.

His most memorable achievement in Indian colors came when he returned figures of 5 for 6 against South Africa in 1999. Post-retirement, he has served as a coach and bowling consultant with various domestic and international teams.

Harvinder, who started his career with Punjab and later moved to Railways has represented India in 3 Tests and 16 ODIs in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The former pacer also featured in 109 first-class games, with his last game coming in December 2008.

Responsibility

The duo will join Devang Gandhi, Jatin Paranjpe and Sarandeep Singh, who are already a part of the selection panel. Even as the BCCI's new constitution doesn't require a zonal representation, the CAC has stuck to the old policy, bringing in Joshi (from Karnataka) and Harvinder (from Railways) to take over from the vacated positions from the south and central zone respectively.
