Mumbai: Former India opener Gautam Gambhir has praised captain Virat Kohli, saying that the current captain was always a smart cricketer and it has helped him achieve success at the international level. Gambhir said in a program, 'He was always a smart cricketer. But then he turned his entire T20 career into success and it was only due to fitness. He does not have the strength like Chris Gayle, does not have the ability like AB de Villiers. He does not have the abilities like Jack Kallis and Brian Lara.

He said, 'Now his biggest strength is his fitness and he has also changed his game for good. Therefore, he has become so successful. The most important thing is that they make very good runs between wickets, which most people are not able to do.

Gambhir said about Kohli's batting style, 'I think people forget about T20 cricket. People do not give much importance to dot ball. If you play low dot ball then you are always under less pressure. You can rotate strikes and score runs on every ball.
