Former Indian coach Gary Kirsten is known as 'Guru Gary' in India because, during his tenure, Team India won the 2011 ODI World Cup. Along with this, during the coaching of Kirsten, the Indian team became the world's No.1 Test team in 2009. Kirsten's biggest special thing was that he was able to create a good relationship and harmony between big players like Sachin Tendulkar and young cricketers like Virat Kohli.

Krurston made several revelations about Virat Kohli in Raunak Kapoor's show and told that at the very first sight he had recognized the talent hidden in Virat and he was confident that Virat will become a big player in the future. Talking about this, Krurston said, 'When I first met Kohli, I saw a lot of potential and talent in him. He was quite young at that time. But I immediately understood that he was not doing his best, so we talked about it many times. I will never forget when we were playing ODI series against Sri Lanka and he was batting brilliantly after scoring close to 30 runs. Then he tried to hit the ball over the long on fielder and he was out.





Kirsten went on to say, 'I told him,' If you want to take your cricket to the next level, you should have hit that ball for a run on the ground as well as long on. You know that you can hit many balls in the air but there is a risk with it. Krurston is very sure that Virat understood his risk taking advantage as Virat hit a century in the very next match. Not only this, Virat has really reduced the risk factor in his batting.

Kirsten also spoke about her relationship with Kohli and said, 'Our relationship started when Kohli came into the team as a young player and we had an unstructured dialogue in which I wanted to tell him that listen to you You know that you have the potential to become a big player, but you still have a long way to go.
