Ajinkya Rahane and Steven Smith played aggressively to score 52 runs in the powerplay and carried the momentum to built a huge partnership of 130 runs in 12 overs where Rahane completed his half century in 8th over of the match and Smith scored 50 runs (8 fours) in 32 balls and was departed by Axar Patel in the 14th over. Rahane tried to score quick runs but wickets started to fall at the other end as result of which Rajasthan was restricted on 191-6 despite of Rahane's 2nd century in VIVO IPL where he scored 105 runs (11 fours, 3 sixes) of 64 balls.

 DC capitals got very solid start as Prithvi Shaw and Sikhar Dhawan scored 59 runs in the powerplay without losing any wicket. They built a partnership of 72 runs for the first wicket where Sikhar Dhawan got out after brilliant half century and departed on 54 runs (8 fours, 2 sixes) of 28 balls by Shreyas Gopal who gave the break through and Ryan Parag took the wickets of Shreyas Iyer in the 9th over. Another important partnership between Prithvi Shaw and Rishab Pant of 84 runs took the score close to the target where Prithvi Shaw got out by Shreyas Gopal on 42 runs of 39 balls (4 fours, 1 six) but Rishab Pant made no mistake and helped the team to win the match by 6 wickets with his tremendous inning of unbeaten 78 runs of 36 balls and the team DC scored 193-4 in 19.2 overs. Shreyas Gopal picked 2 wickets but conceded 47 runs in 4 overs. Dhawal Kulkarni and Rynn Parag got 1 wicket each.
