 The start for RCB was not so good as they lost the wicket of Virat Kohli in the 3rd over of the inning who scored 9 runs (2 fours) of 8 balls and was departed by Deepak Chahar. Than a partnership between Parthiv Patel and AB de Villiers helped to score 49 runs in the powerplay. But just after the powerplay Ravindra Jadeja picked the wicket of AB de on 25 runs (3 fours,1 six) of 19 balls. Parthiv Patel played a good  inning where as wickets were falling at regular intervals and the batsman couldn't utilize the start they got on yht other side Parthiv Patel converted the start into a brilliant fifty as result of which RCB could score 161-7 in 20 overs with his 53 runs of 37 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes.

The bowlers continued to pick wickets at regular intervals where Deepak Chahar, Ravindra Jadeja, DJ Bravo picked 2 wickets each and Tahir got 1 wicket.

 The start for CSK was close to worst as they lost 4 important wickets in the powerplay and able to score only 32-4 in 6 overs. Than Rayudu along with Dhoni built and impotant partnership of 55 runs where Rayudu scored 29 runs (2 fours, 1 six) of 29 balls but was also got out in the 14th over of the match. Dhoni was trying to get closer to the target but wickets continued to fall at one end and in between Dhoni completed his fifty in 35 balls with a six but the job was not yet done.Last over of the match CSK needed 26 runs to win, Dhoni was on strike Umesh Yadav bowled the last over of the match, in the 5 balls in the over Dhoni scored 24 runs with 3 sixes and a four and than the CSK needed 2 runs of 1 balls but shot didn't connected well and bounced front of the keeper and Parthiv made no mistakes to hit the stumps and Shardul Thakur couldn't make it as a result of which CSK lost the match by 1 run despite of Dhoni's excellent inning of unbeaten 85 runs of just 47 balls.

Dale Steyn shares 2 wickets each along with Umesh Yadav, Navdeep Saini and Y Chahal got 1 wicket each.
