 Chris Lynn and Subhman Gill gave a very good and huge start to the team by scoring 50 runs in the powerplay without losing any wicket and scored 96 runs in 9.4 overs and in between Chris Lynn completed his  another fifty in the season but Hardik Pandya gave the breakthrough by departing Lynn on 52 runs (8 fours, 2 sixes) of 29 balls. But Subhman Gill continued to bat brilliantly even after his half-century and built another partnership of with Andre Russell 62 runs but Gill got out after scoring 76 runs (6 fours, 4 sixes) of 46 balls. And than the Russell Storm came to play where he scored 74 runs in 4.4 overs along with Dinesh Kartik which helped the team KKR to set a huge total of 232-2 in 20 overs where Russell scored 80 runs (6 fours, 8 sixes) of 40 balls and Karthik scored 15 runs (1 four, 1 six) of 7 balls.

 MI couldn't get a good start as they lost wickets at regular intervals right from the start of the inning as no top-order batsman could convert the start into a big inning but the middle order tried to revive the team by their small but important contribution where Suryakumar Yadav scored 26 runs (2 fours, 2 sixes) runs of 14 balls but the partnership between Hardik Pandya and Pollard raised the hope for MI where they scored 63 runs for the 5th wicket and  Pollard got out on 20 runs (2 fours) of 21 balls. Hardik Pandya batted like a one-man army and took the score close to the target but after the wicket of Pandya brothers MI lost the match by 34 runs as they could score 198-7 in 20 overs where Hardik Pandya scored 91 runs (6 fours, 9 sixes) of 34 balls and hope of playoffs still alive for KKR in the season.

Andre Russell, Harry Gurney, and Sunil Narine picked 2 wickets each and Piyush Chawla got 1 wicket.

Andre Russell was magnificent with the bat as well as with the bowl for which he got the Player of the Match award in 47th Match of VIVO IPL Season 12, KKR vs MI in Kolkata.
