The ICC T20 World Cup 2007 which was the inaugural season of the tournament which was played in South Africa. India is the first team to win World T20 Championship on 24th September in 2007. India beat Pakistan by 5 runs in the final match played in Johannesburg South Africa.
First Match of T20 World Cup
The first match of the T20 World Cup was played between South Africa and West Indies on 11th of September 2007 where South Africa chased down a huge score of 202-6 in 20 overs set by the West Indies and won the very first match of the tournament by scoring 208-2 in just 17.4 overs.
India's journey in T20 World Cup 2007
India started its campaign on 13th Sept 2007 against Scotland but the match was abandoned due to rain. Technically India played his first match against Pakistan in the tournament on 14th Sept in Durban.

on 19th Sept 2007 where a World record has been created by Yuvraj Singh to become the first Indian to smash 6 sixes in an over bowled by Stuart Broad. Yuvraj Singh's magnificent innings of 58 runs(3 fours, 7 sixes) of 16 balls helped the team to set a huge total of 218-4 in 20 overs. England scored 200-6 in 20 overs and lose the match by 18 runs.

India in the last league match beat South Africa by 37 runs which were played on 20th Sept. India qualified for the Semi-final against Australia. Yuvraj Singh once again created the difference and helped India to set a total of 188-5. And the sensational bowling joins the patry to defend and beat Australia by 15 runs. Final Match of T20 World Cup 2007
India by beating Australia qualified for the final against Pakistan who quafied by beating New Zealand by 6 wickets. India batted first and Gautam Gambhir's 75 runs (8 fours, 2 sixes) of 54 balls and Rohit Sharma's 30 runs of 16 balls took the score to 157-5. The total was not so huge but it's quite enough to compete.
Indian bowlers bowled beautifully and departed 6 batsmen at a score of 77 runs to make it one sided but Misbah ul Haq fought back and took the match till the last over where Pakistan needed 13 runs in 6 balls with one wicket left.

MS Dhoni made a shocking decision to pass the ball to Jogindar Sharma to ball the last over of the match. Jogindar bowled the first ball wide and than a dot, but Misbah hit the second ball to a six and made Pakistan cheer. The 4th ball of the last over of the match bowled by Jogindar Sharma and Misbah played his most trusted shot scup towards the third man, the ball raised above and landed into the hands of Sreesanth. India made it and won the match by 5 runs to become the first T20 World Champion.
