Team India created history by achieving a milestone of 11 consecutive home series victory with the biggest ever victory over South Africa in the 2nd Test in Pune.  Team India beat South Africa by an inning and 137 runs and ensured the series victory in the 3 match Test series against South Africa. A short overview of the first 2 Test matches is as follows.

1st Test of India vs South Africa was played from 15th Sept to 19th Sept 2019 where Team India batted first and Rohit Sharma started the inning for the very first time in Test cricket as the opener along with Mayank Agarwal.

Both of them batted flawlessly and scored 317 runs for the first wicket in the first inning which is the 2nd highest opening partnership after Sehwag and Dravid's 410 runs.

Mayank Agarwal scored his maiden Test hundred and converted it into double century in Test cricket and became the 4th Indian cricketer to do so.

 Though Rohit Sharma failed to score a double hundred his ton in both the inning lead India to enormous victory by hitting the highest number of 13 sixes in a Test match. He also became the first cricketer to score centuries in both the inning of a Test Match as an opener.

       Besides Batsmen R Ashwin's 6 wickets in the first inning and Shami's five-wicket haul in the second inning helped to that victory despite Dean Elgar's and Quinton de Knock's centuries in the first Inning.

2nd Test of India vs South Africa was played between 8th to 12th Oct 2019 but the match ended up in 4 days of play in favor of India. India once again dominated South Africa in the entire match, starting with the toss and Mayank Agarwal's 103 runs in the first inning put India into the commanding position.

 After Mayank its Virat Kohli the Indian captain who finally scored his first century in this calendar year and played an unbelievable knock to convert that 100 into 254* runs. He scored his 7th double century in Test cricket which is the highest number by any cricketer in the world, he also surpasses his highest individual runs in Test cricket. And his partnership with Ravindra Jadeja for the 5th wicket helped India to set a huge total of 601-5 where Ravindra Jadeja scored a magnificent 91 runs of just 103 balls.

    It was then the bowlers who once again bowled South Africa out twice in the match despite Keshav Maharaj's magnificent knock of 72 runs and du Plessis's 64 runs in the first inning. Umesh Yadav's 6 wickets and R Ashwin's 7 in the match helped India to ensure the 11 consecutive home series victory with the biggest ever victory over South Africa in the 3 match Test Series.

Team India once again won the toss and batted first and South Africa lost the toss despite Bavuma's call who came along with Faf for the toss. South Africa started well by picking 3 quick wickets of Mayank Agarwal on 10, Pujara on 0 and the captain Kohli on 12 runs and India were 39-3.

     Rohit-Rahane batted sensibly till the launch and scored runs at a good pace to built a partnership of 267 runs after being set where Rahane scored 115 runs and Rohit got his first double ton in Test Cricket and scored 205 runs. And India ended the first inning with Jadeja's quick half-century and some big hits by Umesh Yadav which helped India to score 497-9.

South African batting looked too ordinary in the match as the Indian bowlers bowled them out twice in the match by enforcing follow on. They were bowled out on 162 runs in the first inning and on 134 runs in the 2nd inning where  Umesh and Shami picked 5 wickets each, Ashwin got 1, Jadeja picked 3 and the debutant got 4 wickets in the match.
