It was a day that Mumbai batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal the youngest cricketer who would remember for the rest of his life. On Wed 6th Nov 2019, playing against Jharkhand in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy, the 17-year old smashed his way into record books by becoming the youngest player to score a List-A double century breaking the previous record by almost three years.








Yashasvi became the 7th Indian to score a double century in List A cricket. And shares the club with Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma (thrice), Shikhar Dhawan, KV Kaushal and Sanju Samson. Jaiswal’s double hundred came a few days after Kerala’s Sanju Samson became the fastest Indian to score a double century.

 Jaiswal hits 12 sixes and 17 boundaries to score 203 runs off just 154 balls. He scored runs against a bowling attack that boasted of the internationally experienced Varun Aaron & Shahbaz Nadeem. Mumbai, as a result put up 358/3 on the board and beat Jharkhand by 39 runs. This was Jaiswal’s third hundred in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Yashasvi Jaiswal's cricketing journey is an inspiration to many. Coming from a humble background, he waded through struggles to achieve his dreams. The Mumbai lad was in the news for making his entry into the Indian U-19 team for the Sri Lankan tour in August. Coming through the junior cricket ranks, Yashasvi has hit 49 centuries in the last five years. But he failed to replicate the same success for the national team.

The IPL Player Auction 2020 turned out to be a big occasion for the uncapped India players as many of them were sold for more than INR 1 crore. As anticipated, India's youngest double centurion in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Yashasvi Jaiswal got a heavy deal as he was sold for Rs 2.4 crore to Rajasthan Royals while Varun Chakravarthy once again grabbed a heft deal. Despite playing just one match in last year’s IPL for Kings XI Punjab.
