Asia Cup 2020 to be held in Sri Lanka, Pakistan and ACC agreed

The Asian Cricket Council has deferred its decision on whether the Asia Cup T20 cricket tournament 2020 will be played or not. On the other hand, Sri Lanka, while proposing to host this tournament, has claimed that the host Pakistan has agreed to it.

Sri Lankan cricket chief Shami Silva has claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Board and the ACC have agreed that Sri Lanka can host the tournament to be held this year. The Asia Cup 2020 is to be held in September. This time Asia Cup is hosted by Pakistan, but it will not be played there because India has already refused to play there due to security reasons.

Ceylon Today quoted Shami Silva as saying that we had discussed the matter with the PCB and they agreed to host it. They told us that the ACC had an online meeting and they gave us the green signal to host the tournament.

It is being said that the ACC is waiting for the ICC's decision on the T20 World to be held in Australia this year. The Asia Cup will be decided only after a decision is taken on the T20 World Cup.

The ACC said that it emphasized the importance of organizing the Asia Cup 2020. Given the impact and consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, the options for the Asia Cup 2020 potential venue were discussed and a final decision will be taken when the time comes.
