New Delhi: Indian cricket team played their first Test match against England in 1931-32. After this, in the last 88 years, the batsmen of Team India have heard the threat of their name all over the world. With Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Gundappa Vishwanath, Rahul Dravid, Mohammad Azharuddin, Virat Kohli, Virender Sehwag and Sourav Ganguly, the list of Indian batsmen who have made a name all over the world can be so long that it is too heavy to tell.
But there is also a record on which Indian veteran batsmen have not been able to get their name written even after 88 years. This is the record for scoring a century in both innings of a Test match against England. Even master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, who has captured the records all over the world, has not touched this achievement.

Has scored 15 times against England in both innings
Against England, the feat of scoring a century in both innings has been shown by 14 batsmen 15 times to date. But not one of these batsmen has been from India. 5 for Australia, 2 for South Africa, 2 for Pakistan, 2 for New Zealand and 3 batsmen for West Indies (4 times) have written their names on this record. George Headley, known as the "Black Bradman" of the West Indies, is the only batsman to score a century in both innings of a Test against England twice in 1930 and again in 1939, 9 years later.
Only Gambhir and Kohli had come close
There have been only two occasions for Team India when a batsman missed very close to achieving this record. For the first time, Gautam Gambhir missed these records after scoring 179 runs in the first innings in a Test match played against England in Mohali in December 2008, scoring 97 runs in the second innings.

Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli missed this record for the second time. Kohli was dismissed for 97 runs in the first innings of the Trent Bridge Test on a tour of England in August 2018, but he scored a vigorous 103 runs in the second innings.
Gavaskar has scored the most centuries in both innings for India
A century has been scored in both innings of Test matches 86 times to date in the world. The Indian team has been associated with this record 19 times. 9 times batsmen have done this feat for Team India, whereas 10 times a batsman has scored a century in both innings against Team India. But you will be surprised to know that this feat done in Indian cricket 9 times, only 6 batsmen have been such, in whose name this record is recorded.
The first time Vijay Hazare made this record for India in 1948 against Australia. After him, this record was recorded in the name of Sunil Gavaskar. Gavaskar has made this record for India the most 3 times.
