Following this claim, former Sri Lankan cricket team captain Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene have been infuriated and have now asked the former Sports Minister to ask for evidence to prove it. In fact, the former Sports Minister has claimed that the 2011 ODI World Cup was sold by Sri Lanka to India and the match played at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium was fixed.

Former Sri Lankan Sports Minister while talking to News First said that the one-day World Cup final match played in 2011 was fixed. This happened when I was the Sports Minister and I stand by my statement. He said that it was a match in which the Sri Lankan team could win, but keeping in mind the value of their country, I do not want to disclose much.

He further said that I take full responsibility for this statement given by me and am ready to debate on this matter with anyone. I will not include the players in this, but some groups were definitely involved in fixing this match.
