CSK got a good start by Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson as they scored 79 runs in 9.4 overs but CSK lost the wicket of both the set batsman in consecutive overs where Shahbaz Nadeem gave the break through by departing Watson on 31 runs (4 fours) of 29 balls and du Plessis on 45 runs (3 fours, 3 sixes) of 31 balls. Raina struggled to score runs and ultimately departed by Rashid khan on 13 runs of 13 balls and with Raina CSK lost 2 more quick wickets which restricted them on 132-5 in 20 overs where Rayudu scored unbeaten 25 runs (2 fours) of 21 balls.
The bowlers of SRH bowled extremely well and didn't allowed CSK to convert the good start into a big score, where Rashid Khan picked 2 wickets conceding 17 runs in his 4 overs and Khaleel Ahmed, Shahbaz Nadeem and Vijay Shankar got one wicket each.

The most destructive opener of VIVO IPL Season 12 Jonny Bairstow and David Warner once again gave a solid start to the team and scored 66 runs for the first wicket where David Warner scored tremendous 50 runs (10 fours) of 25 balls and was departed by Deepak Chahar. The middle order which is the biggest concern of the team once again disappointed and the middle destroyed in quick succession and lost 3 wickets without contributing much even though Bairstow batted till the end and helped the team to win the match by 6 wickets with his 61 runs (3 fours, 3 sixes) of 44 balls and they scored 137-4 in 16.5 overs. Tahir once again was brilliant with the ball and picked 2 wickets conceding 20 runs of his 4 overs, Deepak Chahar and Karn Sharma got 1 wicket each.
