Sri Lanka claims to host Asia Cup, BCCI raises the serious objection

New Delhi Recently, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) met for the Asia Cup 2020. The meeting was attended by BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah on behalf of India. Within hours of the ACC meeting, the head of the Sri Lankan Cricket Board had claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Board and the ACC Asia Cup were ready to be played in Sri Lanka. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has raised a serious objection to such a report and said that no such decision has been taken in the Asian Cricket Council meeting held through video conferencing last week.

Just after the ACC meeting, SLC Chief Shammi Silva told the media, "We discussed with the Pakistan Cricket Board and they have already agreed to host this edition due to the current situation (Coronavirus). We have an online ACC meeting in which they basically gave us the green signal to host the tournament. " On the other hand, the BCCI official has said that no decision has been taken on it yet.

Let us know that Pakistan is hosting the Asia Cup this year, but the BCCI has refused to play in Pakistan. In such a situation, only a neutral venue can be formed at a neutral site. This is the reason why the Asia Cup host has not yet been officially decided. BCCI sources have spoken to TOI saying, "We have no idea where such reports are coming from and we wonder how fast these reports go viral."

BCCI sources have further said, "The BCCI is clear that no decision was taken at the ACC meeting. The Board (BCCI) is tired of giving these explanations.
