Good news for cricket fans: IPL 2020 and IPL 2021 to be played in 6 months

IPL 2020 and IPL 2021 played in 6 months

On the morning of Monday, July 20, will the Indian Premier League or IPL be organized this year or not? There was skepticism on this, as the Board of Control for Cricket in India, or BCCI, could not decide on the IPL's event until the International Cricket Council (ICC) postponed the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia this year. This happened on Monday late evening and the T20 World Cup was postponed.

With the postponement of the T20 World Cup, the doors for IPL 2020 also opened, but you may be surprised to know that BCCI will now have to organize two versions of IPL within 6 months. There are many reasons behind this, but we are going to reveal today why BCCI is forced to hold two back-to-back IPLs. IPL is not under pressure from any board or ICC over an event over BCCI.

Actually, this year the IPL is to be played from September to the first week of November, which has not been announced officially, but it has been decided in the meeting of the BCCI's Apex Council and the IPL Governing Council that from late September to early November. Till the 13th season of IPL is finished. After this, BCCI will have to organize another IPL in the next 6 months, because then no further window is seen to be empty.

The ICC has set an October-November window for the T20 World Cup 2021, while also postponing the Asia Cup to be held in the T20 format this year. The Asia Cup will be held in 2021 and not in 2020, and the Asian Cricket Council may adopt the September window for this tournament. Apart from this, cricket is played in England and other countries from late May to August-September. In such a situation, only IPL window of April and May is left with BCCI.

The April and May windows also shoot IPL because no country has a season to play cricket except Asia. All the players in Ace play in this league. This is the reason that BCCI will have to finish the 13th season of IPL in November, while BCCI will again need a window of April and May for the 14th season. In this way, BCCI will have to conduct two IPLs in 6 months.
