IPL 2020 will be held in UAE

The apex council of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has almost agreed that the Indian Premier League (IPL) should be held in September-October in the event of the postponement of the proposed T20 World Cup in Australia in October-November this year. Will be made in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). However, the official decision on this will be taken after the final decision of the International Cricket Council (ICC) on the IPL Governing Council T20 World Cup.

The BCCI Apex Council meeting on Monday through video conferencing lasted for about four hours and discussed the 11 point agenda. However, it is surprising that the apex council could not take any decision on any issue including IPL, domestic cricket events, future tour schedule, and Bihar cricket. In this, everyone agreed that IPL could not be done in April-May due to Corona, IPL should be done in UAE in September-November. However, an official decision could not be taken on this either.

The ICC has already held a meeting on the decision to postpone the T20 World Cup but has not taken a final decision which also annoys the BCCI and it feels that the international body is deliberately hanging it. According to the ICC, she wants to take the right decision at the right time. Warning of the second wave of coronavirus has been issued in Australia. Cricket Australia chairman Earl Eddings said in June that it is hypothetical to think about the preparations for the T20 World Cup this year. Eddings suspects that hosting a 16 team in an epidemic period would not be true. On the other hand, international cricket has returned from the Test series started in England between the English and Caribbean team.

Why IPL 2020 will be held in UAE

In 2014, BCCI has conducted half of the IPL season in the UAE. Most of the countries including India have good connectivity with UAE so that players and support staff from other countries including India can reach it easily. Quarantine time in the UAE is also shorter than in other countries. Whether it is about medical facilities or previous experience of IPL, all things go in favor of UAE.

Camp of contracted players

The BCCI has said that it will organize a conditioning camp only for the players covered under the agreement. The names of Dharamshala and Ahmedabad were discussed in the top council. However, a final decision was not taken on this either. With the cricketers not being able to visit the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore, the camp is almost certain to be held in Ahmedabad or Dharamshala.
