BCCI, the world's richest cricket board, has not paid payments to the world's richest cricketers for 10 months. The BCCI had tied up with 27 cricketers at the beginning of 2020, but none of the players have received the first installment of the installments at intervals of three months each. Since October last year, the amount of players on the board has remained outstanding.

Not only this, the Board of Control for Cricket in India, ie BCCI, has also not transferred the match fees of 2 Tests, 9 ODIs and 8 T20 International matches played after December 2019. The total retainer amount for the contracted cricketers is Rs 99 crores, with different grades paid. In Grade A Plus, captain Virat Kohli is accompanied by Rohit Sharma and Jaspreet Bumrah.

BCCI provides Rs 7–7 crore annually to A-category players, while Rs 5 crore to A-grade players, Rs 3 crore to B-grade players and Rs 1-1 crore to C-grade players in four installments. At the same time, if you talk about match fees, then every player gets Rs 15 lakh for a Test match, Rs 6 lakh for a one-day match and Rs 3-3 lakh for a T20 International match. For players, this amount is like salary.

According to the recently released balance sheet on its website by BCCI, the board has an amount of Rs 5526 crore as of March 2018, of which 2992 are in fixed deposits. In April 2018, BCCI signed a Rs 6138.1 crore broadcasting deal with Star TV for 5 years. According to an English news website, 8 contracted players from India have admitted that they have not received a single penny for 10 months.

The reason for the players not getting paid is that the board has not had a Chief Financial Officer since December and the Chief Executive Officer and General Manager (Cricket Operations) has also been discharged last month. Sources have reported, "These important administrative posts have not been filled for the last several months." Even BCCI presidents Sourav Ganguly and Jai Shah's tenure has ended.
