36th Match of VIVO IPL Season 12, RR vs MI in Jaipur

 The 36th Match of VIVO IPL Season 12, RR vs MI was played on Sat 20th April 2019. RR changed the captain in the mid-season and Steven Smith will be the captain once again in the season and onwards. RR won the toss and elected to bowl first.

 Quinton de Kock gave a good start to the team but also lost the wicket of Rohit Sharma in the 3rd over of the match as a result of which MI scored 46-1 in the powerplay. After Rohit's wicket de Kock and Suryakumar Yadav scored 97 runs in 11.2 overs for the 2nd wicket. But RR managed to take two big wickets of Suryakumar Yadav on 34 runs (1 four, 1 six) of 33 balls by Stuart Binny and de Kock who played a great Innings of 65 runs (6 fours, 2 sixes) of 47 balls and departed by Shreyas Gopal in the crucial time which shifted the momentum. Hardik Pandya couldn't able to score more than 23 runs (2 fours, 1 six)  of 15 balls as result of which MI scored a total of 161-5 in 20 overs. 
Shreyas Gopal bowled brilliantly and picked 2 important wickets conceding only 21 runs in his 4 overs and Binny, Unadkat and Jofra Archer picked 1 wicket each which helped to restrict MI on 161 runs.

 Rajasthan started the chase with Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson who gave a good start to the team even after the wicket of Rahane who scored 12 runs of 12 balls and scored 60 runs in the powerplay along with Steven Smith. But in the 8th over Rahul Chahar gave the break through by departing Sanju Samson on 35 runs (6 fours,1 six) of 19 balls and Ben Stokes on a duck. Than a partnership between Steven Smith and Ryan Parag took the match away from Mumbai Indians and scored 70 runs for the 4th wickets and in between Smith completed his another half century in the season and Ryan Parag scored 43 runs (5 fours, 1 six) of 29 balls which helped the team to win the match by 5 wickets where  Smith's 59 runs (5 fours, 1 six)  of 48 balls finished off the match in 19.1 overs.
Rahul Chahar was the most effective bowler who took 3 wickets conceding 29 runs in his four overs and Bumrah picked 1 wicket.
Steven Smith the captain of Rajasthan Royals got the Player of the match award in 36th Match of VIVO IPL Season 12, RR vs MI in Jaipur.
