What BCCI treasurer said on the loss due to the cancellation of IPL

BCCI Treasurer on Cancellation of IPL

The Cricket Board of India (BCCI) treasurer Arun Dhumal made it clear after the Covid-19 pandemic situation that no new program is yet to be held or a new window is being considered for the IPL 2020. Dhumal made it clear that any decision in this regard will be taken only when the cricket starts back.

The IPL has been postponed indefinitely beginning March 29. Recently, it was reported that if the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup were postponed, the BCCI is considering organizing the IPL in the October-November window this year. Dhumal said on this, we have not made any plans about this yet.

BCCI Treasurer on India Tour Australia 2020

The Indian team will have a tour of Australia at the end of the year. Regarding the scheduled commencement of the tour in October, Dhumal said that after reaching there, Indian players can go on segregation, but this will not be possible before every foreign tour.

Dhumal told PTI, 'What will be the situation at that time, you cannot speculate on that. Australian tour is likely for the moment as no one has canceled it. The situation is the same for the T20 World Cup. '

Dhumal said, "Before the tour of Australia, players will need to go on secession only if there is no proposed World Cup (T20) before that. If the World Cup is over, the players will complete the separation already. If segregation is necessary before every tour, it will be very difficult to organize matches. '

Dhumal said that the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia in October-November will be logistically more challenging. He questioned, "Is it possible for Australia to keep players from so many teams (16) on segregation for two weeks?"

Will the players be ready to play the T20 World Cup directly after being on segregation for two weeks. Nothing is clear on this yet. ”He said,“ Once the situation improves and the lockdown ends, then we will see what to do keeping in mind the safety and health of our players. The health of the players is paramount. '

The Indian team has to play four Tests on the tour of Australia. Cricket Australia however wants to play another Test. Dhumal said that the five-Test series were discussed before the lockdown but Cricket Australia could now change its mind given the serious financial impact on the board.

If there is no Indian tour, Cricket Australia could suffer a huge (300 million Australian dollar) loss, he said, "The Indian team is more likely to tour Australia because it has time and is logistically easy to do." We have to see what the government's guidelines were at that time (both India and the Australian government). '

Dhumal said, "How will the team travel? There is no clarity on international travel and will we get any discount. We do not know anything about all this yet. The picture is so blurred that we cannot decide anything right now. '

No possibility of Indo-Pak cricket

Apart from former Pakistan cricketers Shoaib Akhtar and Saqlain Mushtaq, Australia's Brad Hogg also advocated Indo-Pak cricket this year, but Dhumal rejected such views. He said, "People are talking about unimaginable things. They can think whatever they want but the board has to decide. '

Dhumal said that if the Indian Premier League (IPL) was not done then the board would suffer a loss of Rs 4000 crore. He said, "If there is no IPL, then the revenue loss will be Rs 4000 crore. If we fail to hold the domestic session, it will be a huge amount. BCCI is also suffering heavy losses. If IPL does not happen then we will be caught in a big problem. '
