New Delhi Former Sri Lankan Sports Minister Mahindananda Althagamge has made a major claim. Mahindananda Aluthgamage claimed that the World Cup 2011 final match between hosts India and Sri Lanka at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium was fixed. The match was won by the Indian team by 6 wickets. Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the second ODI World Cup by scoring a winning six.

When World Cup 2011 was held in India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, Mahindanand Althgamge was the Sports Minister of Sri Lanka. He said that he does not want to make any more disclosures keeping in mind the reputation of his country, but he has not provided any evidence to claim that the World Cup 2011 final is fixed. He said that this was a game in which the Sri Lankans could win.
In an interview with News First, he said, "I will not include cricketers in it. However, some groups were definitely involved in fixing the game."
