ENG vs WI 3rd Test Day 1 Manchester

England has scored 258 runs losing 4 wickets on the first day of the third and final Test cricket match against the West Indies. Oli Pope scored 91 and Jose Butler scored 56 runs. For West Indies, Kemar Roach took 2 wickets, Roston Chase got 1 wicket. The first day was a good start for the Caribbean team as England has kept 4 fast bowlers and 1 spinner in their playing eleven and in that case they have less of a specialist batsman. For this reason, star all-rounder Ben Stokes had to bat at number four.

Stokes also failed to show much success and returned to the pavilion on a personal score of just 20 runs. Opener Rory Burns, standing at the other end with him, played a crucial innings of 57 runs. Being cloudy, the West Indies won the toss and decided to bowl first and Kemar Roach dismissed Dom Sibley on the sixth ball of the first over of the innings. Sibley, who scored a century in the second Test, could not even open his account this time.

Root batted according to the situation and scored 17 runs from 59 balls. When it seemed that he had set his feet well at the crease to play a big innings, Burns played spinner Rahkim Cornwall to third man. Roston Chase dropped the gills with a straight throw to the wicketkeeper's end and Root was run out.

West Indies have kept fast bowler Shannon Gabriel in the playing eleven. His muscles were stretched during his fourth over, forcing him to leave the field. It was a relief for captain Jason Holder that he returned to the field before lunch and also bowled.

The three-match series is still at 1-1. The West Indies are looking to win the series in England for the first time since 1988. England has replaced fast bowlers Joffra Archer and James Anderson in place of Sam Curran and top-order batsman Jock Crowley. Stokes is not fully fit right now and he is unlikely to bowl. The West Indies made a change to place Cornwall in the playing eleven in place of Alzari Joseph.
