West Indies legend Sir Everton Weekes dies aged 95




West Indian great batsman Sir Everton Weekes died at the age of 95 years. He breathed his last at Christ Church Hospital in Barbados on Wednesday. He made his Test debut against England in 1948 under the leadership of George Hadley and played his last match against Pakistan at the age of 22.





In his career, he played 48 Test matches and scored 4,455 runs. During this time his average was 58.61. It also includes a world record of 5 consecutive centuries. He scored 141 against England in Jamaica and then 128, 194, 162 and 101 runs in India. He scored 90 runs in the next innings.

He was one of the famous three W's of the Windies. Apart from them, it included Sir Frank Worrell and Sir Cloyd Walcott. Condoling his demise, Cricket West Indies president Ricky Sherit said in a statement, "I never got to see Sir Everton batting, but I did get a chance to meet him later."
