Scoring a double century in Test cricket is like a dream come true for any batsman, apart from a double century, if a batsman scores a triple century, that inning becomes an example for his career. Let us tell you that there have been 3 such batsman in Test cricket who dismissed at 199 & 299 in Test cricket.
The first name in this sequence comes from the great Don Bradman of Australia. The great Bradman scored 299 not out during the fourth Test match against South Africa in Adelaide in 1932 and missed out on a triple century. In fact, when Bradman was batting for 299, Australia's 9 wickets fell and as the last wicket, Pud Thurlow was out, due to which Bradman could not score a triple century. Bradman has scored triple centuries in Test career twice.

New Zealand's Martin Crowe was dismissed for 299 in the second innings of the Wellington Test match against Sri Lanka in the year 1991. Due to which he could not complete his triple century. Let us know that Martin Crowe is the only batsman in the world who has been out for 299 runs. Crowe faced 523 balls in his innings and scored 29 sixes as well as 3 sixes. Martin Crow was caught by Arjun Ranatunga at the hands of wicketkeeper Hassan Tillakaratne.
Sri Lanka's legendary Kumar Sangakkara became known as a great batsman in Test cricket. Sangakkara missed a double century in the Gaul Test against Pakistan in 2012. Sangakkara was unbeaten on 199 runs in this match. It happened that Nuwan Pradeep was dismissed as the last batsman and Sangakkara could not complete the double century even after reaching a double century.
Zimbabwean batsman wicketkeeper Andy Flower was also unbeaten on 199 at one point in his Test career. In 2001, Andy Flower was unbeaten on 199 during the Test match against South Africa. Here too Zimbabwe's last batsman was out, due to which Flowers could not make a double century.

Mudassar Nazar of Pakistan has also missed out on a double century in his career. Mudassar Nazar was dismissed for 199 runs in 1984 during the Faisalabad Test match against India.
Former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin has also missed a double century in his Test career. Azhar was dismissed for 199 during the Kanpur Test match against Sri Lanka in 1986.
Australia's Matthew Elliott is also out for 199 runs in his Test career. Elliott was out for 199 against England in the 1999 Leeds Test match.
Sri Lanka's Sanath Jayasuriya was able to score 199 against India in the Colombo Test match in 1997 and failed to score a double century.

Former Australia captain Steve Waugh is also out for the Test for 199. In 1999, in the Bridgetown Test match, Steve Waugh was out for 199 runs.
Younis Khan of Pakistan was dismissed for 199 against India in the 2006 Lahore Test. Younis Khan is the only batsman in the world to be run out for 199 runs.
Ian Bell of England is also included in this list. Bell was bowled out for 199 in a match against South Africa in the 2008 Lord's Test and missed his double century.
Australia's legendary batsman Steve Smith also missed one run after reaching a century in his career. Smith was out for 199 against the West Indies in the Kingston Test in 2015.
