New Delhi: Even though the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is struggling to somehow get the Indian Premier League (IPL) under pressure from the franchisees despite the worsening circumstances of the coronavirus epidemic in the country, Cricket Australia has made it clear It has been given that it is not ready to organize the T20 World Cup this year.
Cricket Australia Chairman Earl Eddings believes that organizing the T20 World Cup this year will be impossible and unrealistic. Let us know that the World Cup of the shortest version of cricket is to be held in Australia between October 18 and November 15 this year. This is the second time Eddings has appealed to postpone the T20 World Cup. In the past month too, Eddings has written an email to the Finance and Commercial Affairs Committee of the ICC.

Referred to the threat of epidemic
Eddings has cited the magnitude of the epidemic for not organizing the T20 World Cup this year. Eddings said on Tuesday, 'Most of the 16 countries participating in the T20 World Cup are in the grip of the epidemic at this time and it is a very difficult time to organize any tournament. Even though it has not been formally canceled or postponed this year, but I would say that it is impossible to organize. I think it would be unrealistic or very, very difficult. We have put forth many different options of ICC, through which we are currently working.
Proposal for 2 events in next 2 years
Traditionally, at present, the T20 World Cup is being held once every two years. But Eddings had proposed to the ICC to organize two T20 World Cups in the next two years by email. He proposed that Australia should organize it in October-November 2021 and let India organize it after one year in 2022. Eddings says that it will be financially beneficial for all member states. He has also warned that if this does not happen and the World Cup is canceled this year, it will prove very harmful for cricket.

ICC postponed decision
The ICC is also not ready to postpone the T20 World Cup this year due to economic reasons. That is why the ICC Board, during its meeting last week, postponed the decision on this issue for the time being. The ICC is still hopeful that this event can be held. After the board meeting last week, ICC Chief Executive Manu Sawhney said that there is only one chance to make a decision and it needs to be taken exactly. He said that this decision will be taken only after talking to all stakeholders, from broadcasters to players.
