Ben Stokes can be given rest in decisive 3rd Test against West Indies

England 3rd Test against West Indies

Coach Chris Silverwood has said he would consider rotating star all-rounder Ben Stokes ahead of the third and final cricket Test against the West Indies starting on Friday. Silverwood said that Stokes' presence makes the team stronger, but despite that, he will be considered to be given rest. Stokes picked up 176 and unbeaten 78 runs in the second Test against the West Indies, besides taking three wickets, which helped England equalize the three-match series 1-1 with a 113-run win in the second Test. With this performance, Stokes surpassed West Indies captain Jason Holder to top the ICC all-rounder rankings.

Silverwood said, we want to feed him as much as possible, all can see how good he is. He said, but we know we have to consider rotating them. He has been the center of our performance in the last two matches and we have to make sure that he is okay, but will play if he is fit and healthy. The 29-year-old Stokes dropped from the bowling during the 15th over of the second innings of the West Indies, but later insisted that there was nothing to worry about.

Silverwood said Stokes would have to be restrained during training because he always wanted to put in extra effort. After the Test series against the West Indies, England also have to play a three-Test series against Pakistan from August 5. England included James Anderson, Joffra Archer and Mark Wood in the fast bowling attack for the first Test against the West Indies, while Stuart Broad, Chris Woakes and Sam Curran took the responsibility in the second Test. Having six to seven fast bowlers in the team, Silverwood faces a selection dilemma, but said he is committed to picking the strongest bowling attack to win the third Test.

Silverwood said, "We have to choose the strongest attack from the available attack." It is very difficult to keep everyone happy all the time. But, if you do things for the right reason then a mutual understanding is made. "All the players always want to play and I am probably more disappointed if they can't do it," he said. If you are keeping out world-class players then from my point of view England cricket is in a very good condition. Former fast bowler Silverwood also hinted that both Dom Bess and Jose Butler could retain their place in the playing XI for the third Test.
