Kane Williamson may be removed from captaincy

Wellington, PTI. A big change is expected in the New Zealand cricket team. There has been news for a long time that Captain Kane Williamson may be removed from his post. New Zealand coach Gary Stead on Monday dismissed speculation that he attempted to remove Kane Williamson from Test captaincy.

He said that there is no truth in these speculations and that his relationship with the captain is strong. After the 0–3 defeat to New Zealand at the hands of Australia earlier this year, such speculation was revealed that Steed had taken over for the Test captaincy. Williamson is preferred over left-handed batsman Tom Latham.

Stead said for the first time, "there is no truth in this". Certainly this is news to me, certainly there was no talk about anything like this. Our eyes are on Ken right now. He is the player that we are supporting, he has been a great leader for this team and I am sure he will be in the future.

When asked about the relationship with Williamson, Stead said, 'I think they are quite good. I think these are strong. I like him as a player. He is a man who works on principles and he brings a lot to the team. Stead, however, admitted that he and Williamson had a different perspective.

He said, 'I think there has been a difference of opinion with each member of the team at different times. The reason for this, however, is that I am a human being and that too a human being.

In May, the country's cricket board also dismissed claims that Williamson's Test captaincy was in jeopardy. On Tuesday, the 2019 World Cup final at Lord's would be completed by a year in which New Zealand would be ruled out against England on the basis of the boundary counting The loss was suffered as the score was tied even after the scheduled overs and super overs. Stead said that there is no bitterness about the defeat, but it has a little pain.
