Indian umpire Nitin Menon has become the youngest umpire to join the elite panel of the International Cricket Council. Nitin is just the third umpire to feature in the ICC Elite Panel for India. The 36-year-old young Indian umpire has been named in the panel in place of England's Nigel Llong for the year 2020-21.

India's young umpire Nitin Menon has achieved a major feat. He has become the youngest umpire to join the elite panel in world cricket. Only 36-year-old Nitin will be the third umpire after Srinivas Venkataraghavan and Sundaram Ravi to join the panel on behalf of India. The BCCI has congratulated Nitin for this achievement.





The panel to select Menon included ICC General Manager Geoff Allardyce, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar and match referee Ranjan Madugalle as well as David Boon. After receiving the news of making a place in the ICC panel, Menon said, "It is a dream to join this official panel with the best umpires and referees in the world, I have always had a dream. It is a feeling that is still fully It will take time to sink.





Menon has officiated in 3 Tests, 24 ODIs and 16 T20 matches so far. He holds the responsibility of umpiring in matches played in India. This will be the first time that he has been included in the ICC Elite Panel.

The umpire who joins this panel is responsible for umpiring all the big ICC matches. Tournaments like World Cup, Test Championship and Champions Trophy are included in it. Nitin may get a chance to umpire in the most powerful series of Ashes next year.
