India's leg-spinner Bhagwat B Chandrasekhar was a bowler who remained an enigma to the batsmen. Despite having polio in one hand, his determination to not give up led him to international cricket and contributed significantly to the country's many historic victories. When the World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev did not even put his foot in international cricket, then this bowler used to make the batsmen very much in front of his spin.





Mysore-born Chandrasekhar's stature is revealed when he turned 75 on May 17 when the International Cricket Council congratulated him with his official Twitter handle and shared a photo in which the team's memorabilia against Chandrasekhar England Were bowling in victory. B Chandrasekhar Included in India's quartet





He was part of Team India's spin quartet which included E Prasanna, Bishan Singh Bedi, Srinivasaraghavan Venkataraghavan. These players dominated between the years 1960 to 1970. Chandrasekhar was inspired by the playing style of former Australia spinner Richie Benaud. Chandrashekhar started playing cricket at the age of 10 and made his Test debut in 1964.





Different style: Chandrasekhar with his jumping and sharp googly was like a jewel in the cap of the Indian cricket team. He changed the color of the national team in the overseas Test. Chandrashekhar was elected Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1972 and the same year the Government of India honored him with the Arjuna Award for his contribution to cricket.

Chandrasekhar fell victim to polio as a child due to which his right hand was weakened. But Chandrasekhar's same flaw turned into quality. His wrist twisted more when throwing the ball, keeping him apart from normal spinners. In fact, he was the fastest leg break bowler due to which good batsmen get out easily.





Won the first Test on England soil: He changed the stance of the match several times with his bowling which includes memorable matches in the history of Indian cricket. When India won the first Test on England soil by winning the Oval Test in 1971 and captured the series. Chandra took six wickets for 38 runs, taking England's second innings to 101 runs.

First Test victory in Australia: Also, Chandrashekhar gave India the first Test victory in 1978 on Australian soil.
In that Melbourne Test, he took 12 wickets for 104 runs. Look at the coincidence - in the first innings, he took six wickets for 52 runs, while in the second innings also he took six wickets for 52 runs. India defeated Australia by a large margin due to this performance of Chandra.
